Inked

An upcoming move motivated brothers Donald and James to get matching tattoos. "James has wanted a tattoo for a while," said Donald, "since I'm moving, it seemed like a good time to do it." The pair decided to emblazon Chinese symbols on their chest.

Kyle Miller, owner and artist of Hearts on Fire, has owned the downtown Nampa tattoo parlor since last year. Miller, who is also a firefighter, has six years of tattoo experience.

From top:
1) James examines the stencil in the mirror while his brother Donald looks on.
2) James is all smiles as Miller gets ready to begin the tattoo.
3) Miller concentrates on the design, while James tries to lie still.
4) James finally realizes what the phrase "beauty is pain" really means.

  1. Tattoos are my favorite =) I like these- it gets into those tattoo parlors that everyone just sees from the outside and you get the slice of life of two brothers bonding really by getting these tattoos. You created a story as well that made the pictures go together. nice

  4. Wow Aimee great job with these picture! I love the expressions on his face and all the different aspects of the event - him actually getting the tatoo, grimacing, checking it out in the mirror, and that awesome smile at the end.
